Abstract
This study selected 194 Chinese as a second language learners from Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, and Cambodia as participants, and employed the PROCESS macro program to comprehensively examine the pathways among multiple variables. The results showed that learning motivation significantly and positively predicted Chinese learning achievement; learning motivation significantly and positively predicted learning attitudes; Learning attitudes did not have a significant direct effect on learning achievement; however, at high levels of second language enjoyment, they partially mediated the relationship between motivation and achievement. Foreign language enjoyment significantly moderated the pathway between learning attitudes and learning achievement, while its moderating effect on the pathway between learning motivation and learning attitudes was not significant. From an integrative perspective, this study reveals the synergistic mechanism of motivation, attitudes, and emotions in Chinese second language learning, enriches research on affective factors in the field of second language acquisition, and provides empirical evidence and implications for Chinese language teaching practices in Southeast Asia.
