International Journal of Chinese Language Teaching

International Journal of Chinese Language Teaching (IJCLT) is a fully peer-reviewed international journal published by Clifford Publishing, an imprint of Clifford Media International. It publishes biannually both original empirical research and systematic review studies on teaching and learning Chinese as a first and foreign language at all education levels. The journal accepts submissions written in English or Chinese.

The journal welcomes contributions in the following areas, but not limited to: Chinese linguistics; processing of Chinese as a first and second language; translation and interpreting studies; curriculum design and development; teaching methodology; teacher professional development; language and culture; language and society; language testing and evaluation; language planning and policy; multilingualism and multilingual education; information technology and language education.

 

《国际汉语教学学报》由Clifford媒体国际出版、发行和运营,主要刊发运用当代语言学理论研究汉语语言本体和汉语教学的研究论文,具体包括以下方面(但不限于):

1、汉语本体研究,包括现代汉语文字、语音、词汇、语法和语篇研究等;

2、汉语教学研究,包括教学材料设计和开发、教学法、教师发展、汉语作为第二语言的习得、语言测试与评估、语言政策、语言与文化、科技与语言教育等。

Background

Academic Chinese has been an important field of study on Chinese as a second language. Since its advent in this century (Shan, 2008), the relevant research have focused on those topics like academic Chinese vocabulary (Ji, 2016; Wang et al., 2022; Zhang, 2022; Zhang et al., 2022; Zhu et al., 2021), spoken and written Chinese for academic purposes (Li et al., 2022;  Su et al., 2021), academic Chinese teaching (Gao et al., 2016; Gao, 2020; Li et al., 2020; Qi et al., 2022), and academic Chinese textbook development (Gao et al., 2018).

 

However, from the perspective of the whole system of academic Chinese research, there is still a lack of relevant theories, research methods and teaching practices. Particularly, with the substantial increase in the number of international students coming to study in China, the urgency, systematicness and scientificity of academic Chinese teaching and research are particularly prominent, which directly and effectively promote the relevant theoretical and applied research.

 

Aims and Scope

The theme of this special issue focuses on various fields of academic Chinese research, including but not limited to the following aspects.

1. Research on academic Chinese theory

• research on academic Chinese linguistics

• research on academic Chinese pragmatics

• research on academic Chinese text and discourse

• research on academic Chinese registers

• research on academic Chinese genres

2. Research on academic Chinese methodology

• qualitative methods for academic Chinese studies

• quantitative methods for academic Chinese studies

• mixed methods for academic Chinese studies

3. Research on academic Chinese application

• research on academic Chinese acquisition

• research on academic Chinese teaching

• research on academic Chinese curriculum

• research on academic Chinese teaching resources

• research on academic Chinese standards

• research on academic Chinese assessment and evaluation

• research on academic Chinese levels development

• research on the interaction between academic Chinese and subject knowledge

• research on academic Chinese teaching and personal career development of teachers

-       Full manuscripts due: 30 September, 2023

Submission Instructions

We accept submissions written in English or Chinese. English articles should be around 8,000 words and Chinese articles 10,000 Chinese characters (inclusive of notes and bibliography). 相关背景

学术汉语正成为当前汉语二语研究的重要领域,其主要关注在专业学习与学术研究环境下,汉语表现出来的新特征、学术汉语的习得情况、领域汉语教学的新变化及二语者运用汉语进行专业研究与学术表达的效果等。不同于专业汉语较为关注语言上的研究,学术汉语拓宽了研究范围,涉及语言、习得、教学、教材及汉语运用等,且在研究方法上有所创新。这样更具全面性,也更有助于研究发展与现实应用。此外,随着来华国际学历生数量的大幅增长,学术汉语教学与研究的急迫性、系统性和科学性尤为突显,直接有力促进了相关的理论与应用研究。

 

“学术汉语”这一术语的出现始于本世纪(Shan, 2008),有关研究起步较晚、涵盖范围较少,且多集中于学术汉语词汇及词表研究(Ji, 2016; Wang et al., 2022; Zhang, 2022; Zhang et al., 2022; Zhu et al., 2021)、学术汉语口语及篇章研究(Li et al., 2022; Su et al., 2021)、学术汉语教学研究(Gao et al., 2016; Gao, 2020; Li et al., 2020; Qi et al., 2022)、学术汉语教材建设(Gao et al., 2018)等。

 

对正在逐步形成健全研究体系的学术汉语而言,上述领域虽分别从语言要素、语言技能、语言教学及教材等维度,开展了一定的研究,但却不足以有力支撑起学术汉语这一体系。任何一项科学的、可持续的学术体系建设,都应构建起“理论—问题—方法—应用”的研究模式。因此,现有学术汉语研究尽管在某些微观之处已取得较好成果,但从学术汉语研究整个体系来看,仍缺乏相关的理论、研究方法与教学实践等研究。这是当下摆在我们眼前急需探索、并给出一定解答的学术汉语研究领域,也是本次专刊关注的重点。
